How to Filter for Cells that Contain Text in Google Sheets
To filter for cells that contain specific text in Google Sheets, follow these steps:
- Select the range of cells or the entire column that you want to apply the filter to.
- Click on the "Data" menu in the Google Sheets toolbar.
- Select "Create a filter" or click the funnel icon in the toolbar. This will add a filter icon to each header in the selected range.
- Click on the filter icon in the header of the column that you want to filter by text.
- Choose "Filter by condition."
- In the dropdown menu, select "Text contains."
- Enter the text you want to filter by in the box that appears.
- Click "OK" to apply the filter. Only the rows that contain the specified text in the selected column will be displayed.
Example
Let's say you have a list of tasks with their priorities and you want to filter for tasks that contain the word "meeting".
- Select the range of cells or the entire column containing the tasks.
- Click on the "Data" menu in the Google Sheets toolbar.
