How to Fill Series in Google Sheets
Filling a series in Google Sheets means extending a sequence of numbers, dates, or other data in a pattern. This can be done either horizontally (across rows) or vertically (down columns). Here's how to fill a series in Google Sheets:
- Open your Google Sheets document or create a new one.
- Click on the cell containing the value you want to use as the starting point of the series.
- If you want to extend the series horizontally, click and drag the blue square on the bottom-right corner of the cell across the desired number of cells in the row. For a vertical series, drag the blue square down the desired number of cells in the column.
- Release the mouse button to fill in the series.
Alternatively, you can use the "Fill Series" option from the context menu:
- Open your Google Sheets document or create a new one.
- Select the cells where you want to fill the series, including the cell with the starting value.
- Right-click on the selected cells to open the context menu.
- Click on "Fill Series."
Example: Fill a series of numbers
Let's say you want to create a series of numbers from 1 to 10 in column A.
- Open your Google Sheets document or create a new one.
- Click on cell A1 and type "1" (without quotes) as the starting value.
- Click and drag the blue square on the bottom-right corner of cell A1 down to cell A10.
- Release the mouse button to fill in the series.
Now, you should see the numbers 1 to 10 filled in cells A1 to A10.
