How to Fill Series in Google Sheets

Filling a series in Google Sheets means extending a sequence of numbers, dates, or other data in a pattern. This can be done either horizontally (across rows) or vertically (down columns). Here's how to fill a series in Google Sheets:

  1. Open your Google Sheets document or create a new one.
  2. Click on the cell containing the value you want to use as the starting point of the series.
  3. If you want to extend the series horizontally, click and drag the blue square on the bottom-right corner of the cell across the desired number of cells in the row. For a vertical series, drag the blue square down the desired number of cells in the column.
  4. Release the mouse button to fill in the series.

Alternatively, you can use the "Fill Series" option from the context menu:

  1. Open your Google Sheets document or create a new one.
  2. Select the cells where you want to fill the series, including the cell with the starting value.
  3. Right-click on the selected cells to open the context menu.
  4. Click on "Fill Series."

Example: Fill a series of numbers

Let's say you want to create a series of numbers from 1 to 10 in column A.

  1. Open your Google Sheets document or create a new one.
  2. Click on cell A1 and type "1" (without quotes) as the starting value.
  3. Click and drag the blue square on the bottom-right corner of cell A1 down to cell A10.
  4. Release the mouse button to fill in the series.

Now, you should see the numbers 1 to 10 filled in cells A1 to A10.
