Conditional Formatting if Between Two Values in Excel

Conditional formatting allows you to automatically apply cell formatting based on specific conditions or criteria. In Excel, you can use conditional formatting to highlight cells if they fall between two values. Here's how to do it:

  1. Select the range of cells that you want to apply the conditional formatting to.
  2. Click the "Home" tab on the ribbon, then click "Conditional Formatting" in the "Styles" group.
  3. In the dropdown menu, hover over "Highlight Cells Rules" and then click "Between" from the list that appears.
  4. In the "Between" dialog box, enter the two values you want to set as the lower and upper limits. You can either type the values directly or click the small icon to the right of each box to select a cell that contains the value.
  5. Choose the formatting you want to apply when the cell value falls between the two values. You can select one of the predefined formats or click "Custom Format" to create your own.
  6. Click "OK" to apply the conditional formatting to the selected cells.

Example

Let's say you have a list of sales numbers in cells A1:A10 and you want to highlight the cells that have a value between 50 and 100.

  1. Select the range A1:A10.
  2. Click the "Home" tab on the ribbon, then click "Conditional Formatting" in the "Styles" group.
  3. Hover over "Highlight Cells Rules" and click "Between".
  4. In the "Between" dialog box, enter 50 in the first box and 100 in the second box.
  5. Choose a formatting option, for example, "Light Red Fill with Dark Red Text".
  6. Click "OK".

Now, any cells in the range A1:A10 that have a value between 50 and 100 will be highlighted with light red fill and dark red text.
